Megalonyx means “giant claw.” This giant ground sloth used its claws to strip leaves and tear down branches. It was given the species name jeffersoni in honor of President Thomas Jefferson, who did much of the early study of the animal.



This is a replica of the original fossil, cast in quality polyresin and hand painted.
